ANANTA

A retreat series by Wandering Mat

Some journeys take you somewhere new.

Others take you somewhere deeper.

Ananta is both

Sanskrit for infinite and boundless Ananta is a collection of small-group immersive retreats designed for those who want more than a holiday and more than a yoga class. These are journeys into remarkable places, held in the company of a small, intentional group, guided by a practice that goes far beyond the mat.

Each Ananta retreat is different in destination, season, and character. What stays the same is the intention, to create the conditions for something real to happen.

What happens on an Ananta retreat?

Each morning begins before the world gets busy. We practice together; classical Hatha, pranayama, meditation,  not as performance, but as inquiry. The kind of practice that asks something of you and gives something back.

Afternoons are shaped by where we are. In Kerala, that means personalised Ayurvedic treatments prescribed by an in-house Vaidya, sattvic meals grown from the land around us, and the particular stillness of the Western Ghats. In Nepal, it means mountains and ceremony and the kind of silence that recalibrates something in you. In Bali, it means ancient temples, rice terraces, and a culture that has been living its spirituality out loud for centuries.

Evenings are for journaling, philosophy, conversation, and rest.

Why small groups?

Every Ananta retreat is limited to 10 to 14 people. Not because of logistics but because of what becomes possible in a small group. People actually talk to each other. The practice goes deeper when you feel seen. Something like community forms, often by day two, and it tends to last well beyond the retreat itself.

These are not anonymous wellness holidays. You will know everyone's name. You will probably know their story.

A word on healing

Each Ananta retreat has its own healing language. In Nepal it is the mountains, the ceremonies, and the particular stillness that altitude and ancient culture create together. In Rishikesh it is the Ganges, the ashram energy, and the living tradition of yoga in its birthplace. In Wayanad it is authentic Ayurveda, not as a spa add-on, but as the medical tradition it has always been.

As an Ayurveda practitioner myself, I chose venues where treatments are prescribed by qualified Vaidyas following individual consultations, where medicines are prepared on site, and where the kitchen understands that food is the first medicine. If you have never experienced Ayurveda in this form, it may surprise you. In the best possible way.

Who is Ananta for?

You do not need to be an advanced practitioner.. You do not need any prior experience with Ayurveda. What helps is an openness to slowing down, a willingness to be present, and some curiosity about what yoga actually is when it moves off the mat and into your life.

If that sounds like you, Welcome.
