For many practitioners and teachers, there comes a point where information is no longer enough and practice begins to raise deeper questions that require time, reflection, and careful study.

The Satvik Yoga Centre Study Circle is a monthly space for that kind of work. It is not a course or a lecture series, but an ongoing space to return to the teachings, examine experience carefully, and develop a clearer understanding over time.

What This Space Is

Each month, we explore a specific theme drawn from classical yogic texts such as the Yoga Sūtra and Bhagavad Gītā.

Sessions combine close reading of selected passages, clear explanation, and practical application. The focus is on understanding what the teachings are pointing to and how they relate to contemporary practice and teaching.

We work through real questions that arise for practitioners and teachers, such as:

What is practice actually for?

Why do effort and discipline become confusing over time?

How do conditioning and habit shape perception?

What does it mean to live the teachings consistently?

The emphasis is not on inspiration or theory, but on clarity.

Who This Is For

This space is for yoga teachers who want a more grounded and precise understanding of classical philosophy, and for practitioners with an established practice who feel ready for sustained inquiry. If you are looking for a beginner course, a certification program, or a motivational space, this is not the right fit.

Structure

  • We meet once each month for 90 minutes. Each session follows a consistent structure that supports focused study and discussion.

  •  We begin with a brief orientation to settle into the space and frame the theme through a guiding question. This is followed by close reading of selected passages from classical texts with clear explanation and context.

  •  From there, we examine how the teachings relate to contemporary practice, teaching, and lived experience. Sessions then open into focused discussion and questions before closing with one point or question to carry into practice.

  •  Sessions are live and conversational in tone. Recordings are available for those who cannot attend.
