The Kleśas:
What's Actually Running the Show
A 90-minute live workshop on the five patterns Patañjali says are always operating beneath the surface, whether you notice them or not.
You've probably studied the kleśas before, at least on paper. Avidyā, asmitā, rāga, dveṣa, abhiniveśa. Five words that are easy to define and much harder to actually see in yourself while they're happening.
Patañjali makes a claim in Book Two of the Yoga Sūtra that's easy to skip past: these five aren't occasional problems that show up when things go wrong. They're always present, in one of four states, from fully dormant to fully running the show. The question was never whether you have them. It's which one is active right now, and whether you've mistaken it for something else. A preference. A personality trait. A reasonable response to the world.
This workshop stays with that claim for 90 minutes. We'll work through each kleśa using Patañjali's own structure and Edwin Bryant's reading of the text, then bring each one into the room as it actually shows up in a modern life, not as an abstraction. There's space built in for questions throughout, not just at the end, because this material tends to raise them in real time.
You'll leave with a reference guide that holds the material past the session, so this isn't something you have to catch perfectly live or lose.
